I am just about ready to give up my plans of becoming a Phlebotomist. I already received my training at the local community college. I was told that among the Phlebotomist requirements that I need, this one is the first one that I should finish. It took me less than three months to complete my training. I also got certification and passed in the competency exam soon after completing my training. However, when I submitted my application requirements for employment, I am always asked for previous work experience. What can I say? I have none. I was too busy finishing my course work to think of other forms of employment before going into the real thing. So now what am I supposed to do?
I though being a Phlebotomist is a speedy way to get my hands on a good career. Or at least, to get a stable job. I was so wrong.

Seeking GED programs has made me realize that I am better than this. I don’t want the life I am leading now, and I can do better. I’m only 25, and I am flipping burgers for a living. I just feel like I can do so much better. People my age are going to colleges and owning businesses. I have the integrity, but I just made a stupid mistake. Getting my GED will definitely help my life out. At least I can seek higher paying jobs. If I want an even better job, I can look into getting college degrees. Do I regret dropping out of high school? I certainly do. However, it’s just something that I just did without thinking about the consequences. Now I know why my parents were so angry and disappointing. I hope that this will make up for it. I know I can’t turn back time, but it’s never too late for a GED.

I am a really smart person but I am just terrible when it comes to time management. I tend to procrastinate until the last minute and then I finally get around to working on a project. This leaves me stressed and I feel like I make a lot more mistakes than I would have if had not put things off. Also, I try to multi task but I don’t know if I am doing things the right way. I thought that trying to do more than one thing at a time would be a good way to manage my time but it seems like it takes me longer than normal anyway. Maybe I should just focus on one project and try not to put off everything. I could use some advice or some management skills. They don’t teach this in school and that is when I really started to learn how to put stuff off until the last minute.

My advice, if possible, is to go for the standard certification route to become an elementary school teacher.

As someone who’s taken the standard path to certification (in other words, somebody who took an approved teacher education program as part of their degree program), you show dedication and commitment that you knew from the outset that you wanted to become a teacher and this can often look favourable when up against candidates who have taken alternative routes to certification to become a teacher.

I would love to just quit my day job and go teaching English around the world. There are so many lives that I could touch and change forever if I just had the time and the money to get it all done. I bet I could start up a foundation that would help me earn the money that I would need to start teaching these kids. Once they learn, they would be so much better off in life. I think that they might even be able to go to college in the right set of circumstances. It is hard to say what their future might hold but I just want to try my best to make it as good as I can for them.
